Finished Newes of the Dead by Mary Hooper for the New Author Challenge.
This was an impulse buy last week, and I'm glad I got it. It's based on a true story, which I had never heard of (not too surprising, I guess, considering it was in England in the 1600s).
Apparently this woman, Anne Green, was hanged for infanticide--except she didn't die. The book didn't explain how this happened, but she didn't die and she came to on the dissection table.
The book is told from two perspectives--hers and Robert, one of the guys who will do the dissecting.
This was so interesting and creepy. I can't imagine being essentially paralyzed and not knowing what's going on. (Fortunately, she doesn't realize that the people in the room are going to be cutting her open.)
