Finished The Luxe by Anna Godbersen for the New Authors Challenge.
This is the first of at least three books (I have the other two, as well). Picture Gossip Girl (the show, not the book series) but set in 1899 Manhattan, and that's basically this.
It centers around Elizabeth, her younger sister Diana, her best friend Penelope (really more of a frenemy), her maid Lina, the boy she loves, Will, and the boy she's supposed to marry, Henry.
Here's where it gets interesting, and you may need a flow chart.
Elizabeth loves Will and he loves her back. Lina also loves Will.
Elizabeth is supposed to marry Henry. Neither of them are excited about this because, again, Liz loves Will. Henry likes Diana, but is sleeping with Penelope. Penelope...well, I don't know if she loves Henry, but she likes sleeping with him. :)
Oh yeah, and the book opens with Elizabeth's funeral and flashes back to several weeks before her death so we can see what happened.
I cannot wait to see what happens next. :)
