Finished Sweethearts by Sara Zarr for the New Author Challenge.
Really, really compelling book. It's about Jenna, a high school student who's popular and has good friends and a cute boyfriend. And then her childhood best friend Cameron reappears and messes it up for her. Before she was Jenna, she was Jennifer--fat, incredibly unpopular and with just one friend in the world (Cameron).
When he disappeared, Jennifer/Jenna decided to reinvent herself, but now that Cameron's back, she has to (a) figure out who she really is and (b) deal with their shared past (it's not pleasant).
I haven't read any of Sara Zarr's other books (she has at least one other one out, which was a finalist for a National Book Award) but I would like to definitely find and read more.
