Finished Unwind by Neal Shusterman for the New Author Challenge.

This was recommended by Bookishly Fabulous and was really great.

It's set in the future, after a compromise is reached on abortion--when you have a baby, you either keep it or stork it (leave it on someone's porch, but if you get caught, you have to take the baby back).  Once the kid turns 13, though, the parents can choose to "unwind" them (organs and extremities are donated--because pretty much everything is used, they're tecnically still alive, just part of someone else's body).

The catch is that once the child turns 18, they can't be unwound anymore, so--not surprisingly--a lot of kids selected for unwinding flee.  Usually they get caught pretty quickly.

This is mostly about Connor and Risa (two people who are going to be unwound) and Lev (who is a "tithe," meaning that he's willingly going to be unwound as part of a sacrifice) and their attempt to not get caught until they turn 18.

I would recommend this, especially to anyone who liked Hunger Games.  It's incredibly creepy (not scary, but just creepy to read about how this is a totally acceptable thing) and sad, but really, really good and interesting.
