Finished Need by Carrie Jones for the New Author Challenge.
I really enjoyed this book, which was an impulse buy at Barnes & Noble after Kim and I saw Friday the 13th. It reminded me of Twilight a little, in that if you didn't know what the book was about, you'd be surprised when you realized what was going on--there are no vampires in this but I think you follow.
So I'm not going to say and will just quote the jacket copy:
"Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.
She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of golddust. There's something not right--not human--in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara."
Also, the cover's awesome.

This sounds really good. I might just have to add it to my ever-growing list. :)
That cover is really... striking. Good cover art is hard to come by.
Maine is hella cold and snowy. Even beyond all the bad things that happen there.
Also, Carrie Jones name-drops Stephen King a LOT. Any time any sort of book is mentioned, it's a "scary Stephen King novel."
