Okay. Yes, I am out of control.
But I finished Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voigt. I hadn't read this before (or any of the later books in the series) and I was totally captivated. It's the sequel to Homecoming (where Dicey and her three younger brothers and sisters are abandoned by their mom and they make their way from Massachusetts to the eastern shore of Maryland--hey, that's where I'm from!--to their grandmother's house).
In Dicey's Song, it's about their transition to life without their mom and with their grandmother. School's started and it's causing huge changes for all of them--Maybeth is slow and is teased, Sammy is trying really hard not to get in fights but failing a little, James is trying not to be as smart as he is so he'll fit in better and Dicey has to deal with home ec. And if you haven't read any of these books, she doesn't do so well in home ec. At all.
I'll be reading the rest of the series this year, doling them out one per month. I think I finish in June but it may be July.

Yes, but never underestimate the effect of a good alcohol binge. Provided you don't do it often.
What book?
It's okay. I still haven't, either. :) I hope that I will have by the end of the year.
I did see from reading the backs that some of the others aren't about the Tillermans. Book 3 is about Jeff, the guitar playing guy. Book 4 is about Bullet and is a prequel, I think (because Bullet is the one that died, right?). Book 5 is about Mina (I am excited for that) and then 6 and 7 are about the Tillermans again. :)
Oh my goodness Janie. That book is AMAZING. One of my faves.
Anyway, I really came here to say, "don't slow down Kelly!" Literacy is a great cause so I'm totally okay with how much you're reading. :)
I loved the Name of the Rose!
I am reading You Can't Go Home Again for my book club this month. For a year that I'm trying to squeeze as many books as possible in, why oh WHY did they have to pick a 700-pager?! I think I should get double dollars for this one. :)
Oh, I know, right? There are 700 page books you can get through in a day if you're dedicated (Harry Potter comes to mind). But most of them you just can't.
I'm excited to read Name of the Rose. A while back (as in several years ago), they had this Gilmore Girls book club online and they would pair two books, a recent book and a classic. Name of the Rose was paired with Shadow of the Wind, my most favorite book ever. :) I've wanted to read it ever since, but I've been a little intimidated by the Amazon reviews.
