I want.

It is cute, I like the red. Is that the color you would choose?

I wish I had a rabbit/with a hat and a bat/and a six-foot parlor...

Seriously, though, what I want first is a garage, so I can work on my frakkin' Honda Civic, myself. Then I would like the resources and know-how on how to modify it for the highest MPG possible. Maybe drop in a conservative boost with a supercharger.

then if I feel cheeky enough, then I want a [used] Prius, along with a knowledge of how to work on it myself, and the ability to modify it so that the battery can be plugged in.

There's no doubt that the Prius is a good car, but it requires additional expense/expertise to maintain it. It also annoys me, just slightly, that this car has been vaunted to environmentalist status symbol in some social circles.

In other words, pigs and dogs will likely fly before I can afford or otherwise get my hands on one. I hates being poor and a ward of the government, y'know?
Yeah, I really like the red, too. It doesn't come in many colors, but I definitely like the red best.

My best friend's dad has one and he's not a car person (as in not very knowledgeable about cars) and he does okay.

I had always heard that they were insanely expensive, but as far as cars go, I think it's a pretty good price. Especially as they get good gas mileage and are partly electric.

The hybrids do really well in downtown driving. They took some of the hybrid Ford Escapes and Toyota Priuses and used them as taxi cabs in New York. They found they saved lots of gas and were still going strong after 175,000 miles.
[this is good]
I love those cars too, they're sooo very cute.
Well, my point (which I did not clearly state) was:

We have a car only by virtue as a gift. We would not have one, otherwise.

Also, when the gov't only gives you so much to live on, DIY suddenly becomes very, very important. I am not sure DIY maintenance (fix it yourself, don't pay a professional) would be as feasible for a Prius-- even a used one.

In short: nice car, but I can't afford to buy or maintain one!
They are very cute and practical. I'd want one too if it'd fit a family! My wish list has a Highlander hybrid on it but my car is only three years old and I still think it's great so .... I hoe you get your new car and everything works out!
The red is nice. I don't think I've seen a red one in real life. I would keep the Sunfire until you can't take it anymore, and save up for the Prius in the meantime. :) ooh...I hope you get a good raise!

Oh, yeah, I don't think I'm getting rid of the Sunfire for years and years yet--I need to get more out of debt so that I can take on a car payment. :)
