I want.
I totally want a Prius. I'd heard that they were insanely expensive, but the one I want is about $25K. Which is a lot of money for me, but it's not out of the realm of possibility, you know? Especially if I get a good raise.
(My car now? A 2001 Sunfire, which means that it probably doesn't have that many more years in it.)
But my car crush, the Prius, is good for the environment and also is totally cute.
I'd be so adorable in that car. ;)
And if it can save me some money on gas, I might do a dance of joy.

It is cute, I like the red. Is that the color you would choose?
Seriously, though, what I want first is a garage, so I can work on my frakkin' Honda Civic, myself. Then I would like the resources and know-how on how to modify it for the highest MPG possible. Maybe drop in a conservative boost with a supercharger.
then if I feel cheeky enough, then I want a [used] Prius, along with a knowledge of how to work on it myself, and the ability to modify it so that the battery can be plugged in.
There's no doubt that the Prius is a good car, but it requires additional expense/expertise to maintain it. It also annoys me, just slightly, that this car has been vaunted to environmentalist status symbol in some social circles.
In other words, pigs and dogs will likely fly before I can afford or otherwise get my hands on one. I hates being poor and a ward of the government, y'know?
My best friend's dad has one and he's not a car person (as in not very knowledgeable about cars) and he does okay.
I had always heard that they were insanely expensive, but as far as cars go, I think it's a pretty good price. Especially as they get good gas mileage and are partly electric.
We have a car only by virtue as a gift. We would not have one, otherwise.
Also, when the gov't only gives you so much to live on, DIY suddenly becomes very, very important. I am not sure DIY maintenance (fix it yourself, don't pay a professional) would be as feasible for a Prius-- even a used one.
In short: nice car, but I can't afford to buy or maintain one!
Oh, yeah, I don't think I'm getting rid of the Sunfire for years and years yet--I need to get more out of debt so that I can take on a car payment. :)
