Good morning. Yes I just saw the article about Ralph, what a bastard. This is to scramble to the vote. I don't like it one bit.

You've said it all, and well put at that; all I have left to say is that I agree with you 100%.
Ralph claims it's to "raise awareness" and further "real discussion".
Because so far It's all been "fake" discussion?

Fucking bastard. I've despised him ever since he said there was no difference between Bush and Gore.

Word.

I wish he would endorse the viable candidate he believes in the most and stay out of it. I support the rights of third-party candidates, but Nader has run so many times it would have happened by now if it was going to happen. And the last thing this country needs is another 2000 debacle.
My conscience is with you ... NO MORE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP!! Thanks for posting!!
I read an interesting article on HP. Basically, it says what you've said, but also points out the one thing he seems to be contributing: a "glaring spotlight" that to be heard in elections requires monumentous amounts of cash from one's self or one's supporters, regardless of the party. Money talks.

And the article is right – He wasn't always an a**hole. :)
I'm sure he's actually a lovely person but if John McCain gets elected because of this, I will still want to punch him in the face. :)

Is this a democracy or isn't it?

Is this a democracy or isn't it? I mean I thought that one of the definitions of a democracy was that any citizen was permitted to run for office.

The thing is, I've always been a supporter of the Green Party and of Nader. I'm not a Democrat - I'm a Progressive - Democrats do not automatically deserve my vote and if they don't put forward a progressive agenda they will not get it. Sometimes that will mean that Republicans get into power because more people support the Republicans. That's democracy - deal with it.

This is absolutely a democracy. As I said before, anyone can run for president, which doesn't mean anyone should.

I said this in an earlier post, but the whole "vote your conscience, not your fears" argument for voting for Nader really annoyed me. My conscience said that George Bush was the worst person for the job and eight years later, I feel like I've been proven right.

I do feel better about his candidacy now though because I feel like someone who's voting purely for idealistic reasons is just as likely to pick Barack Obama.

My other reason for disliking Ralph Nader is that his platform is suspiciously similar to Obama and Clinton's--health care is good, corporate greed is bad. He's saying we need a change and so are they. I see no reason why he feels compelled to throw his hat in the ring because the Democratic candidates are saying the exact same thing he is. Except he wants to impeach Bush and Cheney which, all things considered, would have been better served years ago.
