The seventh season of "American Idol" premieres tonight. Will you be watching, or are you over it?
I wouldn't say I'm "over" American Idol, because I've never watched it. I don't really like reality TV, except for the Amazing Race.
And I have movies coming from Netflix today, so I should be set. :)
What do you do for fun when you're broke?

Watch movies/TV, hang out with friends at my house or theirs, read, play with Sam, sleep...really, the same stuff I do for fun when I'm not broke.
Show us a TV show you never miss.
Which TV show never "jumped the shark"?
Submitted by healthypanda.
And while some seasons were better than others, I am totally fond of both of these:
(Obviously I PREFER the Mulder/Scully dynamic, but Reyes and Doggett weren't horrible. Of course, I was in love with Scully and she was around for all nine seasons, so I may be biased...)
There may have been minor shark jumping, but Gilmore Girls and X-Files never *sucked.*
Film & TV writers are on strike, which means everything except reality TV could halt production. Do you support the strike? Are any of your favorite shows in jeopardy?
I totally support the strike. I think being compensated for the work you do is a good thing. Some may consider it greedy, as these people are already making more than most of us will see, but I disagree. (Unintentional triple rhyme.)
Think of it this way. Say you're a writer and you work on a hit show. We'll say you work on the Office. While you're undoubtedly really happy to be there, you also are working very long hours. Because it's a comedy, you have to tweak the lines a lot to make sure everything is as funny as possible without getting stupid.
So while you're working and thinking semi-wistfully of a 9-5 job like most people have, you happen to stop and think that you're not getting money from DVD sales and you're also not seeing anything from online or cell phone views. "Wait," you think to yourself. "These are the exact same words that I get paid for when they're on TV. Why is it less important when it's on a monitor? And when the show sells millions of DVDs, where's my money from that?"
And you ask and you're told that online views are promotion, and not really a show.
Except it IS. It's an entire show that people are watching, paying money for on iTunes, and you're not getting paid for it.
Without the writers, we wouldn't have the shows that we love. So unless you plan to never watch TV again, you should probably support them.
Most of my favorite shows are going to be okay until January or February. I'm sad about the Daily Show and the Colbert Report going into reruns and yes, I'm sorry that so many other people are currently out of work.
In the long run, though, I think this will make it better for everyone.
If there is anything I've learned, it's this. If corporations can exploit you, they will. So whenever people stand up and say "No more!" I tend to applaud.
What's the worst new television show to premiere this season?
I haven't seen anything offensively bad. I didn't stick with everything I started watching, though.
However, judging from the ratings, I'm going to go with Cavemen.
