I just watched Steel Magnolias (recommended by Josh) and am about to watch Jaws (recommended by Jeannine). Anyway, so after Steel Magnolias, I'm all weepy so I wanted to watch something fun.
Sorry about the previous movie project post--turns out the black background isn't conducive to the color-coded movie project.
Oh well. It won't be October forever.
Okay. Here's my little color-code guide.
This means I've seen the movie since the project started.
This means I have it on DVD.
This means I've rented it.
This means it's DVR-ed.
This means I have it on VHS. (I know!)

My friend Kenny the anchorman said Heat, the LOTR (Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, Return of the King) movies, Caddyshack, Miami Vice, Collateral and the Planet Earth series (it's a documentary). I've actually seen LOTR and Collateral but am excited for the excuse to see them again. I also saw Miami Vice which I didn't like as much but I trust Kenny enough to give it another shot.
JennyExiled has suggested What Dreams May Come, Dangerous Beauty, The English Patient, Dangerous Liaisons, Center Stage, and Pulp Fiction. (Oxford comma included because she likes it.)

I've seen some of them, but most of them I haven't seen recently at all. And no, I haven't seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which yes, I am ashamed of. (Yes, I have it on DVD. It was on sale for $5. You'd risk it, too!)

Jeannine said I should see Sound of Music, Field of Dreams, Rosemary's Baby, Accidental Tourist, All About Eve, Die Hard, The Grey Zone, Psycho, Jaws, The Notebook, Little Women, Pacific Heights, Double Jeopardy, United 93 and Boogie Nights. My friend Leah recommended Donnie Darko, Pan's Labyrinth, Iron Monkey, Central Station, the Indiana Jones movies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade) (really just the first and last, but Blockbuster sends them all together), the Cosmos series, Grizzly Man and The Corporation.

My BFF Jen said Looking for Richard, Apocalypse Now, Pride and Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth), Sense & Sensibility, Persuasion, Blazing Saddles, Quiz Show, JFK, Murder By Death and she also said that I could credit the Harry Potter movies to her as payback for the six-hour Pride and Prejudice. She also said this is not a complete list.
Ginger_sister said The Fountain, Truly Madly Deeply, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Little Miss Sunshine, The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Best In Show.

April said LA Confidential and Usual Suspects. (Or, as I like to call it, a Kevin Spacey double feature! SCORE!) I love Kevin Spacey movies, and I haven't seen these in far too long--LA Confidential since it was in theaters and Usual Suspects...um...I think since I lived at home. So yeah. Years on both. Thank you, April! :)

Still not too late to add in your own picks. :) No guarantees to when I'll watch these (and it'll probably be in a random order), but I will. :) Also if you already contributed but want to add more, feel free. :)
Also, since some of these aren't available on DVD right now (Looking For Richard, The Uninvited and a few others), I am at the mercy of TV. So cross your fingers. :)

Seen Before? Yes
I saw this a few years ago when I was on my Hepburn/Tracy kick and I liked it okay, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I definitely like it more now (although Woman of the Year and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner are still my two favorites).
In this one, Katharine Hepburn plays Bunny Watson, who's in charge of the reference department. Spencer Tracy is Richard Sumner, who's coming in with a computer (seriously the biggest computer ever--it's about the size of most walls) and so everyone starts to think the computer will replace them.

Seen Before? Yes.
This is the first Coen brothers movie I saw--definitely years ago. (I've also seen Big Lebowski, Fargo, Intolerable Cruelty and the Ladykillers, and I may have seen more than that, I think.)
I actually watched this yesterday (in between my three hour nap and heading to work) and I'm going to try and watch a movie project flick a day (except for my weekends, when I'm still watching TV seasons) until I get burned out again.
Also, thanks to Kzinti, who made me an awesome spreadsheet of the movie project!
There are way too many movies. I blacked out (again) on how many there are. I could open the spreadsheet and tell you, but I'm afraid. I'm just going to take it one movie and a time and finish sometime before I'm 30. I hope.

Josh (Local Josh) said Loggerheads, The Prestige, As Good As it Gets, Volver and Bad Education and then seconded Beautiful Thing and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And then he threw in Beaches and Steel Magnolias, because he thinks that if I die, he and Jon will get Sam. (Mean, mean Josh.)

Completed lists:
SweetMisery suggested the Robin Williams movies, but then specified Dead Poets Society.
Gunderson Bee recommended Life is Beautiful.
Wendy said My Summer of Love.
My awesome friend Kimberlee has suggested Coal Miner's Daughter and a couple of movies she's seen recently and enjoyed (Al Franken: God Spoke and The Shooter).
My coworker Bernadette just said I have to see Blood Diamond. (See, we do take recent movies, too!)
Jon said Beautiful Thing and seconded Pan's Labyrinth.
lostdwarf said Clue and Kung Fu Hustle.
My best friend Josh threw in Naked Lunch and Videodrome, plus mentioned he's rewatching the Elm Street series, so I threw that in, too. (Yes, of course I've seen that series, but not in ages.)
I finally finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (as recommended by Steve). I have it on VHS and I'm in the habit of watching 10 minutes of a movie on VHS before bed...and tonight, Cuckoo's Nest ended.
I think I mentioned this before, but I watched it when I was 14 or so and thought it was okay, but it's actually fantastic.
If you haven't seen this, go rent it now. Seriously. You'll thank me later.
Meanwhile...apparently the Shining isn't the only movie where Scatman Crothers gets screwed by Jack Nicholson. Nope, it happens in this one, too.
And you will also get to see a really young Christopher Lloyd. :) It's a win-win!
Movie: Blazing Saddles
Recommended By: Jen and Kzinti
Seen Before? No.
Okay, really funny! I'm glad I finally saw it. That said, I think it's my least favorite of the Mel Brooks/Gene Wilder movies--not because it's bad, because it's not. It's just that I really love Young Frankenstein and The Producers.
Also, I forget exactly how many movies are left to watch, but it's less than 200! YAY! (I think it's hovering in the 190 range.)
